With a rather disappointing 30% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes for Jurrasic World Dominion, legions of Jurassic fans this week were looking for something to lift their spirits. Author James Macaluso has delivered with The Lost World – Re-Imagined (in LEGO®)’ his interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic upon which the Jurassic series are surely based.

Macaluso combines his two passions – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters (Sherlock Holmes and Professor Challenger) and Lego. After tackling fifteen Sherlock Holmes adventures and recreating the original Sidney Paget images with LEGO®, Macaluso decided to take on a much larger project. Each Holmes adventure had half a dozen scenes to recreate in Lego, whereas ‘The Lost World’ as a novel meant several dozen scenes and thousands of bricks.

“This was my most ambitious project so far” said Macaluso. “The Sherlock Holme Re-Imagined series went down so well as a way to get a younger generation interested in the original stories I was determined to do the same for Professor Challenger”.

Macaluso’s work has received international acclaim with the Sherlock Holmes Society of London commenting that the illustrations were “eccentric, clever, beautifully presented, witty, and bang up to date”.
