One of the most feature-complete games that has ever been made available to the public is Elden Ring. Elden Ring is at the opposite end of the spectrum from other games, which are increasingly adopting a live-service model that focuses on seasonal content and battle passes. Instead of charging an exorbitant amount of money for the game, Elden Ring provides hundreds of hours of content. Elden Ring is well worth the purchase price because it features a massive open world, a lore that is incredibly intricate, over one hundred boss fights, a wide variety of enemy types, a large number of dungeons, and more weapons and armor than any other game developed by FromSoftware has ever included. However, FromSoftware is not content with merely leaving it at that. Following a number of updates and patches, some of which added some new content, FromSoftware announced that a full-fledged downloadable content (DLC) expansion would be coming to Elden Ring at some point in the not too distant future. Even though fans don't know much about it, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is said to be the most ambitious DLC expansion that FromSoftware has ever created, which is saying a lot given how much they've already accomplished.

And despite the fact that Shadow of the Erdtree will almost certainly be updated with a plethora of new bosses, enemies, weapons, and armors, there is one relatively minor addition that has the potential to have a significant influence on a particular subset of players

And while the vast majority of players probably won't give it a second thought, it would mean a lot to the fans of Elden Rings Shadow of the Erdtree if another extensive list of trophies was added to the game through the DLC. The concept of trophies and achievements for downloadable content (DLC) is not new to the gaming industry. In fact, nearly every major AAA DLC expansion adds another handful of digital awards for players to seek out and obtain. Even though these trophies are frequently kept separate from the main list and, as a result, do not result in the awarding of a Platinum trophy upon completion, this fact does not typically bother the majority of trophy hunters. Instead, many simply view it as motivation to search every nook and cranny of the game's map.

There shouldn't be an exception made for Shadow of the Erdtree; it ought to include trophies that can be earned by defeating the DLC's new bosses, venturing into any newly added regions of the map, and discovering all of the new weapons and armor that the DLC adds to the game. If the Elden Rings Shadow of the Erdtree downloadable content really wanted to go above and beyond, it could even add trophies based on all of the additional content that FromSoftware has added to the game since it first released. FromSoftware has continued to release new updates for Elden Ring over the course of the past year and a bit, and some of those updates have included the addition of some new features, such as new NPC questlines and the PvP Coliseum. It would be fantastic if Shadow of the Erdtree added a handful of trophies based on these post-launch updates as well, as this would provide previous players with an incentive to return to the game and investigate everything that they have been missing out on.
